Mental Health Champions

At Cradley C of E, the health and happiness of every pupil matters.

We are partnering with One Goal, the UK's leading provider of mental health champion's training for schools, to equip our pupils with the skills they need to become Mental Health Champions. One Goal has trained thousands of pupils across the UK, empowering children and young people to take charge of their mental health.  Their expert designed programme covers stress management, emotional regulation, mindfulness and much more. Pupils learn practical techniques to boost their own wellbeing and look out for peers who may be struggling.

During 2024-25 academic year, our Year 3 cohort undertook One Goal's Mental Health Champions Training, graduating from the programme in May 2025.

The children are now 'paying it forward' by sharing their new learning and strategies with others across the school. The pupils of year 3 lead an assembly about mental wellbeing, have designed an outdoor wellbeing zone and performed a song about mental wellbeing at the Malvern County Show.

We look forward to being able to add more details here about how our mental health champions continue to make a difference in the future.

Our commitment

At Cradley CE Primary School, our vision “Believe, belong, be happy; every child, every chance, every day” guides our commitment to nurturing every pupil’s mental wellbeing. We know that children learn best when they feel safe, valued and emotionally secure. Through daily practice of our Christian values — trust, courage, respect, perseverance, forgiveness, caring and resilience — we help children to develop confidence, emotional literacy and the tools to navigate life’s ups and downs.

As part of this commitment, we will continue to work with One Goal’s Mental Health Champions programme, empowering staff and pupils alike to spot early signs of emotional need, create safe spaces for conversation, and promote positive mental health across our whole school community. Together with our families and the wider community, we aim to give every child not just the chance to achieve academically, but also to thrive and grow in happiness and self-belief.
