SMSC and Enrichment

At Cradley CE, our vision to "Believe, Belong, Be Happy – Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day" is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to nurturing the whole child through a rich and inclusive curriculum and enrichment programme that promotes pupils' Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC) development. Our approach is underpinned by our core values of Belonging, Caring, Respect, Trust, Perseverance, Resilience and Forgiveness, ensuring that every child is supported to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

Our extensive enrichment offer provides meaningful opportunities for pupils to develop character, confidence and aspiration beyond the classroom. Through leadership roles such as Pupil Leaders, Prefects, Playground Leaders and Eco Club representatives, pupils learn the importance of responsibility, service and active citizenship. These experiences strengthen pupils' sense of belonging and demonstrate that every child has a voice and can make a positive contribution to school life.

Spiritual development is fostered through collective worship, reflection opportunities, prayer spaces, visits to places of worship and experiences that encourage pupils to explore their own beliefs, values and identity. These opportunities help children to appreciate the diversity of faiths and cultures within modern Britain while developing respect and understanding for others.

Moral development is enhanced through workshops and curriculum experiences that address themes such as online safety, healthy relationships, mental health, first aid and personal responsibility. Pupils are encouraged to make thoughtful decisions, understand the consequences of their actions and demonstrate our values of respect, trust, caring and forgiveness in their daily interactions.

Social development is strengthened through participation in clubs, sporting activities, performances, educational visits, residential experiences and community projects. Activities such as sports competitions, French Club, Music Club, Sewing Club, Chess Club and team-building experiences develop cooperation, communication and leadership skills. Pupils learn to work together, support one another and show perseverance and resilience when facing challenges.

Cultural development is enriched through opportunities including Black History workshops, geography fieldwork, cultural celebrations, visits to local places of interest, including places of worship and engagement with visitors from a range of backgrounds and professions. These experiences broaden pupils' horizons, raise aspirations and promote an appreciation of diversity, helping children understand their place within both their local community and the wider world.

Our enrichment programme directly supports the aims of the current Ofsted Education Inspection Framework by making a strong contribution to pupils' Personal Development. Through a wide range of experiences, pupils develop confidence, independence, resilience and respect for others. They learn how to keep themselves safe, contribute positively to society and embrace opportunities that prepare them for future learning and life in modern Britain.

By placing our vision of "Believe, Belong, Be Happy – Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day" at the centre of school life, we ensure that all pupils experience a curriculum rich in opportunity and personal growth. Through our values of Belonging, Caring, Respect, Trust, Perseverance, Resilience and Forgiveness, we develop confident, compassionate and responsible young people who are ready to succeed in the next stage of their education and beyond.
