Free School Meals
Free School Meals – Could Your Child Be Eligible?
Did you know that your child may be entitled to Free School Meals (FSM)? Not only does this mean they’ll receive a healthy, balanced lunch each day, but the school also receives additional funding (called Pupil Premium) which helps us provide even more opportunities, resources and support for your child and their classmates.
Who can apply?
Free School Meals are available if you receive certain benefits, such as:
-
Universal Credit (with an income below a set threshold)
-
Income Support
-
Income-based Jobseekers’ Allowance
-
Child Tax Credit (without Working Tax Credit, and with an income below a set threshold)
(Full details can be found on the government website or your local council’s site).
How to apply
Applying is quick and confidential. You can:
-
Visit https://www.dudley.gov.uk/residents/benefits/free-school-meals/ and complete the online form, or
-
Ask at the school office if you’d like help completing the application.
Even if your child has already received Universal Free School Meals in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2, we encourage you to apply if you are eligible. This way, the school receives additional funding to support learning and wellbeing across the school.
Why it matters
-
A nutritious meal every day for your child.
-
Extra funding for the school to spend on resources, trips, clubs, and support.
-
It’s confidential – no one else will know your child is receiving Free School Meals.
If you think you might qualify, please do apply – it really does make a big difference to your child and to our whole school community.
