PE leader - Mr Lowe
Physical education develops pupils’ physical competence and confidence, and their ability to use these to perform in a range of activities. It promotes physical skillfulness, physical development and knowledge of the body in action. Physical education provides opportunities for pupils to be creative, competitive and to face up to different challenges as individuals and in groups and teams. It promotes positive attitudes to active and healthy lifestyles. Pupils learn how to think in different ways to suit a variety of creative, competitive and challenging activities. They learn how to plan, perform and evaluate actions, ideas and performances to improve their quality and effectiveness. Through this process pupils discover their aptitudes, abilities and preferences, and make choices about how to get involved in lifelong physical activity.
Teaching PE at Cradley
At Cradley it is our aim that all children will spend two hours each week participating in PE during curriculum time.
Swimming takes place for Year 5 children. They attend a local swimming baths for one 30 minute lesson each week, across the whole year.
Pupils in Key Stage 2 also receive forest school lessons, taught in our outdoor area. Classes are allocated 6 week block each year.
Additionally, extra-curricular clubs are offered termly, to each year group throughout the year, with a focus on physical activities.
