This week at Cradley...

It has been another busy and exciting time across the school. In Reception, the children thoroughly enjoyed a visit from the fire brigade, learning important messages about road safety. Year 1 have been very creative, writing their own versions of The Enormous Watermelon and Year 4 have been exploring science by making switches to turn lights on and off in a circuit. Year 2 have shown great enthusiasm in art, using Modroc to create their own London buildings, while Year 3 have been developing their understanding of different cultures by learning about the five senses involved in puja. In Year 5, pupils brought their learning to life by using toilet paper to represent the vast distances between planets in our solar system—an imaginative way to explore space! In Year 6, pupils have been creating their own sequences using a range of different apparatus, including the blue apparatus!

Collective Worship

In collective worship, we explored why Easter is such an important time for Christians. We learned that although Jesus’ death on the cross was a sad event, Christians believe it was also an act of great love that brings forgiveness and restores the relationship between God and people. We reflected on how some moments in life can feel both difficult and hopeful at the same time, and we shared examples of sacrifice and care—from everyday acts of kindness to people who put others first. We also discovered how Easter is celebrated in different ways around the world, all pointing to themes of new life, hope and love.

You might like to talk together about:

  • Can you think of a time that felt both happy and sad at the same time?

  • Who has shown you kindness or care recently?

  • How can you show care to someone at home this week?

  • Why do you think forgiveness is important?

  • What small act of kindness could you do for someone else tomorrow?

It is often the small, thoughtful actions—kind words, helping hands and forgiveness—that make the biggest difference in our homes and communities.

Eid-ul-Fitr

Eid Mubarak to all our families who are celebrating today – we send you our warmest wishes and hope your day is filled with joy, peace and time together.

Eid al-Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, a special time when Muslims fast from dawn until sunset. The name means ‘festival of the breaking of the fast’ and is a time for celebration, gratitude and community.

The date of Eid is determined by the sighting of the new moon, which is why it falls on a different day each year.

We wish all those celebrating a happy and blessed Eid.
