This week at Cradley...

It has been another busy and exciting week of learning across the school. Year 3 have enjoyed learning the names of different animals in French, while Year 2 have been fascinated by their learning about the Gunpowder Plot.

In Year 5, the class has been completely hooked on a story I have been reading at home, eagerly asking about it each day – and when it finally finished, one child told Mrs Shackleton, “It has about 17 twists in it!” Year 4 have shown wonderful perseverance while sewing their Greek temples, and it was lovely to see the teamwork on display as pupils supported one another.

Year 6 reached an important milestone by completing their mock SATs week, approaching it with brilliant attitudes throughout. Our Reception children have loved becoming scientists, investigating which material makes the best superhero cape, how to make Supertato travel further, and how to make a superhero move without touching it – showing fantastic predicting, investigating and reporting skills.

Meanwhile, Year 1 have been busy creating waterproof shelters in their science learning. It has been wonderful to see such curiosity, determination and teamwork across the school.

Collective Worship

In Collective Worship this week, we reflected on the story of Jesus entering Jerusalem from Gospel of Luke 19:28–40. The children learned how Jesus chose to ride a donkey, showing that he came as a peaceful king. This led us to think about our school value of forgiveness and how choosing forgiveness helps us let go of anger and restore relationships. We talked about how holding on to hurt can feel like carrying a heavy bag inside us, while forgiveness can bring peace and help our community remain a place where everyone feels they belong.

Some thoughts to ponder:

What can you let go of today?

Is there someone you need to forgive?

Is there someone you may need to say sorry to?

Prayer

Loving God,

Thank you for forgiving us.
Help us to forgive others.
Give us courage to say sorry.

Mini Market

A HUGE well done and thank you to all pupils and families who contributed to making this week's 'Mini Market' such a success.  The hall was buzzing with enthusiasm and enjoyment as stall holders sold their wares and the rest of school made their purchases.

A special mention for Kai and Leyla in Year 4 whose wanted to sell their own loom band bracelets and have then worked with Mrs Warford to initiate the Mini market.  Without the support of families at home, it would not be such a success.

School Uniform reminders

Please can all children attend school in the correct uniform wearing smart, black shoes.

On PE days, pupils should be in their black tracksuits with a white t-shirt. there should be no clothing with slogans or images on please. As we approach warmer weather, children may wear burgundy shorts on PE days.

Hair - Please ensure your child's hair is their natural colour to attend school, for girls hair should be tied back and for boys it should be kept smart please.

For forest school days, children should come wearing suitab;le footwear for indoors with wellingtons in a bag.  This ensures mud is not being brought back into school and making corridors and carpets dirty.

Donations: We have been absolutely overwhelmed with pre-loved uniform donations to the point where we are now having to pass them onto local charity shops.  Please could we  ly request branded items for the foreseeable future.

If there is a genuine reason why your child cannot wear the correct items, please communicate this to staff on the gate.  Any variations to uniform must be agreed with Mrs Warford directly please.

Many thanks

Comic Relief

Comic Relief will be on Friday 13th March so we welcome children to come dressed up in red. As the theme is 'Take Yourself funny for Money', we would invite children to bring in a joke to share with the class.  We may even share some of the best jokes in next week's newsletter!
