This week at Cradley...

It has been a joy to see so much enthusiasm and creativity across the school this week. Year 6 have loved their PE lessons, creating their own yoga flows with a partner and combining a range of rolls in gymnastics, while Year 4 have been working collaboratively to master balanced shapes in gymnastics. Year 5 have shown real curiosity and teamwork as they planned their science experiment to design the best parachute. Year 3 have been fascinated by learning about the skeleton and different joints, deepening their understanding of how our bodies work.

In Key Stage 1, Year 1 reached a significant milestone by balancing in PE and using their bodies to form alphabet shapes, and Year 2 enjoyed investigating which objects could stretch the furthest in science.

Reception delighted us all with their imaginative designing, making and testing of chairs for Baby Bear, and to top it all off, the school embarked on an exciting ‘trip’ to the Arctic this afternoon – a wonderful shared experience that sparked awe and curiosity in every class.

Collective Worship

In this week’s collective worship, we shared a further story about Joshua and the Israelites, when they were defeated at the city of Ai because one person, Achan, had disobeyed God’s command. Until Achan’s disobedience had been exposed and addressed, the whole community could not move forward in taking possession of the promised land.

We thought about the times in our lives when we have made a mistake and been slow or too scared to own up and be honest.  We identified the feelings of guilt and shame and even fear associated with such times.

Each of us will make many mistakes in our lives — we will let others down and sometimes mess up. But if we are resilient, knowing that it is okay to make mistakes, we can put things right. When we take responsibility for our actions, seek forgiveness and show forgiveness to ourselves and others, we can learn from what has gone wrong and grow stronger, wiser and kinder.

Prayer

Dear God,

Thank you that you love us even when we get things wrong.

Help us to be brave enough to admit our mistakes, strong enough to put them right, and kind enough to forgive others when they hurt us.

Teach us to learn from our choices and to grow through them,
so that we become more caring, resilient and loving people each day.

Amen.
