Standing Firm: The Quiet Strength of Believing

This week we explored what it means to believe — and to stay strong in it, even when it's hard.

The story of Elijah: The prophets of Baal shouted all day — nothing happened. Elijah prayed quietly, and God sent fire to prove he is the one true God. Elijah didn't shout or panic. He just trusted.

The story of Eric Liddell: A Scottish sprinter at the 1924 Olympics, he refused to run his best race because it fell on a Sunday, his day of rest. He switched to the 400 metres — and won gold, setting a world record.

Our three themes:

  • Believe — hold on to what is good.
  • Belong — stand quietly with someone who is left out.
  • Be happy — notice one small good thing each day and say thank you.

Something to try together

  1. Talk: "When have you stood up for something you believed in?"
  2. Notice: Each evening, name one small good thing from your day.
  3. Pray:

"Dear God, help us to believe in what is good, to belong to one another, and to be happy in your love. Amen."

We are very sad to be saying goodbye to Mrs Shackleton, who is leaving us today.

Mrs Shackleton has been a wonderful member of our school team, supporting children across KS2 and making a real difference to the children she works with. She has also played a much-loved role in running our Nurture Club, Soft Start mornings and Lunch Club, providing children with a welcoming, caring and supportive space throughout the school day.

We would like to thank Mrs Shackleton for all her hard work and the care she has shown to our children. We wish her every happiness and success for the future and hope she enjoys her next adventure!

Thank you for everything, Mrs Shackleton!
