This week at Cradley...

Alongside our extraordinary performance of our Christmas Extravaganza, 'Heroes and villains', classes have still managed to squeeze in some fantastic learning experiences.  Highlights from this week are...

Reception have been using leaves, pine cones and lots of glitter to make decorations to decorate our WonderWood area. Year 1 have enjoyed exploring poetry about toys, learning how to rhyme and Year 2 have designed their own moving vehicle ready to make next week.

Pupils in year 3 have also been developing their poetry skills with a 'Sounds of Christmas' theme. In Year 4 pupils have been enjoying melting different types of chocolate to see which melted the quickest, while Year 5 have begun construction on their Anglo-Saxon crosses.  In Year 6 pupils have created rhyming poetry and then been 'rapping' them aloud over a beat.

Collective Worship

In this week's collective worship, for the third week of Advent, we thought about joy.  Within the Christmas story we considered the overwhelming joy felt by Mary and Joseph at the birth of their new baby Jesus.  We explored how the birth of Jesus, the Messiah, had been foretold by Old Testament prophets such as Isaiah and Micah and that the promise of a saviour for all on earth was a source of joy for many who had been waiting for centuries for God's promise to be fulfilled.

"This will be the proof, a boy will be born and will be given the name Immanuel." Isaiah 7 v 14

We often associate joy with big celebrations and major milestones and such moments in our lives, but they can also be found in the small things, on a daily basis, if only we will tune in and pause to notice them.

In this busy season, we can be those who bring joy to others, particularly taking the time to be aware of those around us and their needs as we can so easily get caught up in our own 'to do' lists.

Prayer

Dear God,

Thank You for the joy that Jesus brought into the world, a joy that shines even in small, everyday moments.

Teach us to be a light to those who feel lonely or sad.

Guide our hearts to spread love and hope wherever we go.

Amen

Christmas Service

All are welcome to attend our Christmas Service which will be held at 9am on Thursday 18th December at St Peter's Church.  Please be mindful that the church does have a fire safety capacity - particularly when accessing the balcony.

Christmas Parties

Class Christmas Parties are being held on the last day of term.  Children should come to school in their party wear.  We will not be asking for donations of party food as the school day will end at 2pm.  Also on this day, the staff and pupils will be taking part in a virtual Christmas Sing-a-long led by Dudley Performing Arts along with other local schools.

Last Day of Term

Please note that school will close at 2pm on Friday 19th December. There will be no after-school provision available.
