These simple activities offer an opportunity to continue the conversation as a family. Choose one that feels right for you.1. Are we really listening?

Take turns sharing something about your day. Practise giving one another your full attention without interrupting.

Ask: “How does it feel when someone really listens to you?”

2. A moment of stillness

Spend a minute together being quiet. Listen for sounds around you, notice your breathing and enjoy a moment of calm.

Ask: “What did you notice when you stopped and listened?”

3. Courage in everyday life

Talk about a time when doing the right thing might feel difficult, such as saying sorry, telling the truth or including someone who feels left out.

Ask: “What could you do this week to show courage or help someone belong?”

4. A simple family prayer

Take a quiet moment to think about someone who might need your kindness, help or encouragement.

You might pray: “Dear God, help us to listen carefully, trust those who care for us and have the courage to do what is right. Help us to make sure everyone feels they belong. Amen.”

A question to share around the dinner table

“If you could make one person feel really listened to and valued this week, who would it be, and what could you do?”

A little listening can make a big difference!

Collective worship:

Samuel Hears a Voice – Learning to Listen

This week, our collective worship explored the Bible story of Samuel hearing God’s voice (1 Samuel 3) and the importance of listening carefully and responding with courage.

We reflected on our school vision, Believe, belong, be happy, thinking about how God knew Samuel, called him and had a purpose for his life. We were reminded that every child is important, valued and capable, with unique gifts to share.

Through our school values of trust, respect and courage, we explored how we can listen to others, trust those who guide and support us, and find the courage to do what is right – whether that means telling the truth, saying sorry, standing up for someone or asking for help.

We considered how belonging means looking after one another, listening with kindness and giving others fresh chances. We also reflected on how using our gifts to help others can bring happiness and fulfilment.

Our worship ended with a moment of stillness, encouraging children to listen carefully, consider what they might be called to do and recognise opportunities to make a positive difference.

As we go into the week, we are encouraged to remember Samuel’s words:

“Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.”

At Cradley, we continue to live out our vision: Every child, every chance, every day.

We would like to take a moment to remind everyone of the importance of kindness and respect when sharing feedback within our school community.

If you have any questions or concerns about the school photographs taken by MJ Photography, please contact the photographer directly so that any issues can be discussed and resolved in the most helpful way. We kindly ask that concerns are not raised on public platforms, as this can sometimes lead to misunderstandings and does not reflect the supportive community we are proud to be part of.

We would also like to clarify that Mrs Warford chose the gold background before the photo shoot, as it reflects and complements our school logo.

Thank you, as always, for your understanding, kindness and continued support.
