This week at Cradley...

Our Reception children have been working hard to design and build their own zoo enclosures, showing fantastic creativity and teamwork. Year 1 have impressed us all with their excellent understanding of numbers to 100, confidently reading, writing and creating them, whilst also adapting brilliantly to the warm weather.

Year 2 have thoroughly enjoyed exploring poetry in their English lessons, while Year 3 have been developing their time-telling skills by learning to read digital clocks. In Science, Year 4 have been investigating the different types of teeth, using biscuits to discover the important job each tooth does!

Year 5 have approached their new RE topic with maturity and thoughtfulness, engaging in meaningful discussions about racism. Meanwhile, Year 6 have been inspired by the powerful poetry of Benjamin Zephaniah, enjoying listening to and analysing his work.

Well done to everyone for another fantastic week of learning and resilience during this extreme heatwave. We hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Collective Worship: Democracy – Every Voice Matters

This week in collective worship, we explored the British Value of democracy and how it links to our Christian values.

We reflected on how democracy is about more than voting; it is about listening to others, respecting different opinions and working together to make fair decisions. Through the story of the early Christian community, we saw how people listened to concerns, valued everyone’s contribution and worked together to support others.

We discussed how democracy is lived out in our nation, our community and at Cradley. Pupils explored how their voices matter through pupil voice, school council and everyday opportunities to share ideas.

We linked democracy to our values of respect, trust and belonging — recognising that when we listen to one another and include everyone, we build a community where all feel valued.

Our reflection this week was:
“Every voice matters. When we respect, trust and include others, we help our community grow stronger.”
