This week at Cradley...

This half-term has been full of exciting learning opportunities across the school. Reception enjoyed a fantastic trip to the zoo, where they had the chance to see a variety of animals up close. Year 1 have been exploring the history of our school, discovering which Queen was on the throne when it was built and learning about her significance. Year 2 have been studying the work of the textile artist Anni Albers, while Year 3 got creative during their Inspire Workshop, making impressive Mayan masks from clay.

In Year 4, pupils have been investigating the fascinating digestive system, learning how the human body processes food. Year 5 have been exploring Magna Carta and considering what additional rules they would include in this historic document. Meanwhile, Year 6 have been learning how numbers can be represented using binary code.

It has been wonderful to see such enthusiasm, creativity and curiosity in every year group.

Collective Worship This Week

For our collective worship this week, we reflected on the story of Paul and Silas and the importance of perseverance when life does not go as planned. Through their time in prison, Paul and Silas demonstrated remarkable courage, trust and hope, choosing to pray and praise God rather than give up in the face of adversity. We explored how, like them, we cannot always control the challenges we face, but we can choose how we respond. We also considered a sporting example where a footballer missed a crucial penalty in a high-pressure moment, reminding us that setbacks and disappointments are often the very experiences that help us grow, learn and improve.

Pupils reflected thoughtfully on times when they have found something difficult and discussed how our school vision of Believe, Belong, Be Happy can guide us through challenges. We were reminded that believing in ourselves, knowing we belong to a supportive community and holding on to hope can help us persevere when things are tough. As a school, we continue to encourage one another to show courage, resilience and kindness, remembering that every setback can become another opportunity to learn, grow and succeed—living out our vision of Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day.

Prayer

Dear God,

Thank you for the example of Paul and Silas, who showed courage, trust and perseverance when life was difficult.

Help us to believe in ourselves and in the gifts you have given us.

Help us to remember that we belong to a caring school community where we support one another.

When things do not go as planned, give us the courage to keep trying, the strength to persevere and the wisdom to learn from our challenges.

May we help others who are finding things difficult and encourage them to keep going.

Help us to live out our school values every day.

Amen
