This week at Cradley....

Reception have enjoyed making decorations for their classroom Christmas tree and role playing in their outdoor Christmas post office. They have been busy wrapping lots of parcels and putting their early writing skills into action while writing cards and letters.

Year 1 engaged in historical exploration of teddy bears from the past while Year 2 have been hard at work exploring attaching wheels and axles for a moving vehicle in DT.

Year 3 have been practising sewing techniques to make a fossil bag and Year 4 have applied their knowledge of expanded noun phrases in writing some fabulous 'Magic Box' themed poetry.

Year 5 have smashed decimals, percentages and fractions in their maths lessons while in Year 6, pupils have been learning a french Christmas song to the tune of Jingle Bells!

Throughout the school, every class has been polishing and perfecting their performances for next week's Christmas production.  The air has also been filled with the sound of beautiful singing as Years 5 and 6 choir rehearse ahead of their visit to take some festive cheer to the residents of Lyme Gardens.

Collective Worship

This week, we continued our Advent series, focusing on the journey that Joseph and Mary took to Bethlehem.

We considered the challenges of their journey through rough and dangerous terrain with Mary, heavily pregnant.  We thought about the sense of belonging Joseph would have had on his return to the place of his birth.

As belonging is one of our school values, we considered how we belong together at Cradley CE and how we can express this in this Advent season through; encouraging one another, walking together through challenges and extending a hand of kindness to those facing additional challenges.

Weekly prayer

Dear God,

Thank you for the example of Mary and Joseph who persevered on their journey to Bethlehem.

Thank you for all those who encouraged them on their long and difficult journey.

Lord, help us to walk together and notice those who need a friend.

Thank you that we all belong.

Amen
