This week at Cradley...

This week has been full of exciting learning opportunities across the school, with our children continuing to believe, belong and be happy as they develop new skills and knowledge. In Reception, pupils have been applying their artistic talents through painting and sketching animals, showing great creativity and perseverance. Year 1 enjoyed a hands-on Design and Technology project, creating their own fruit salads while practising important skills such as chopping, peeling, grating and squeezing. Year 2 demonstrated confidence and growing expertise in computing by creating presentations explaining the life cycle of a frog.

Meanwhile, Year 3 have enthusiastically begun exploring their new English text, A Child's Garden, inspiring imagination and a love of reading. In Year 4, pupils put their scientific thinking to the test by designing and evaluating soundproofing boxes, while Year 5 broadened their understanding of the wider world through researching countries linked to their class World Cup sweepstake. Year 6 successfully completed their 'Bikeability' training, developing independence, responsibility and road safety skills as they rode confidently around the local area. It has been wonderful to see our values of curiosity, resilience, respect and courage shining through in so many different ways, ensuring that every child has every chance, every day.

Collective Worship This Week

During collective worship this week, we spent time revisiting our behavioural expectations and reflecting on how each of us can live out our school values of Belonging, Caring, Trust and Respect through the way we look after our school environment.

We explored how being part of a community means taking responsibility for the spaces we share. Just as we care for our own homes, we are called to care for our classrooms, corridors, playgrounds and shared areas so that everyone can feel safe, welcomed and valued. We discussed how small actions can make a big difference—putting equipment away properly, picking up items from the floor, taking care of our belongings, and leaving spaces ready for others to use. These everyday choices demonstrate respect for one another and help build a culture of trust, where everyone plays their part.

As a school community, we reflected on the idea that our actions affect others. When we take responsibility for our environment, we show that we care about the people around us and help create a place where everyone can thrive and feel that they truly belong.

Questions to Discuss at Home

  • What does it mean to take responsibility for the spaces we use every day?
  • How do you feel when you enter a room that is tidy, welcoming and well cared for?
  • Why is it important to think about how our actions affect other people?
  • What small things can each member of our family do to help care for our home?
  • How can we show trustworthiness through the way we use and look after shared resources?
  • What is one thing you could do this week to make a positive difference to the environment around you?

These conversations help reinforce the important message that every member of our community has a part to play in creating a caring, respectful and welcoming environment for all.

Prayer

Dear God,

Thank you that we have a school that we are all a part of, where we can belong, share and work together.

Teach us to show care in the way we use our classrooms, corridors and shared areas. Help us to remember that the small choices we make each day can have a big impact on those around us.

Give us the wisdom to take responsibility for our actions, the respect to look after our belongings and the belongings of others, and the kindness to leave spaces ready for everyone to enjoy.

May we be people who can be trusted to do the right thing, even when no one is watching. Help us to notice when something needs putting right and to be willing to help without being asked.

As we live out our values of Belonging, Caring, Trust and Respect, help us to create a school where everyone feels valued, welcomed and proud to be part of our community.

May our actions reflect the love and care that you show to us each day.

Amen
